Once again... I am identified as a True Blue Yankee

I was raised in the Midwest. Proud of it to!

Ah this old survey, always a good one. Yankee of course, I was born up there, but have lived a number of years in the upper south and am slowly being Dixie-fied according to the survey. But some of the terms used are not used in their regions that often anymore.

Wasn't putting it down. :) I was just recalling having ran across it a couple years back, not sure if it has been posted here or not. But all activity is extremely welcomed... :D

I seem to recall taking a similar survey some time back. Once again I score out with just a bit of dixie, probably a result of a misspent youth, living an hour from the West Virginia border and spending three years in the Marines, most of it in the south.

I'm sorry sir, I did not mean to imply you were and I did not think you were. Stupid Lt. error! :!:

Came in 50/50, but having grown up in Louisiana until age 23, spending the next 20 years in the Army, and then being in California for the last 9 years things can get confusing when deciding how things are pronounced.

I am a product of the south, no question about it. My Acadian ancestors began arriving in Louisiana during the mid-1760's, which is where the term "Cajun" originated. I also have ancestors that were present at the founding of New Orleans around 1718 as well as the "German Coast" during the same time frame. For the most part, my family was present before the Louisiana Purchase and ended up a part of the United States as a result.

Lieutenant Martin <salute>

Suh, my compliments!

Actually, I was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico. My father was in the Army and stationed at White Sands Missile Base. Our family returned home when he was discharged.

"Home" is what was a rural area about 4 miles east of Breaux Bridge, in Saint Martin Parish.

Suh, if you know the term "chere" (not sure how it's spelled), what are you doing in the Yankee army?

You say home "was" rural land. Is it marsh now or metropolitian Breaux Bridge?

Bet you have eaten at Pat's!

Any ancestors in the CSA, I had two - 38th Tenn. Inf. and Gray's 28th Louisiana Inf., in Mouton's Division! :D

Lt. Martin

Suh, I worked at Pat's when I was in high scholl lol. I grew up on what is now the "Nina Highway", which is between Breaux Bridge and Henderson.
