WE HAVE A WINNER!

There are 51 Mike/Michael's in the Club! Thats is the most popular name among our members!

John

John is the second most popular name in the Club with 47!

We have two of the top three now

What are the criteria?
If we take the current OOBs and
exclude discharged/retires/hospitalised
and go for common spelling then
James and David would tie for first with John a close third

If you admit variants Dave/David, Jim/James, Mike/Michael/Miguel, and Bob/Rob/Robert/Roberto, but not John/Jon (often short for Jonathan) (does Ian count as John?)
then I suggest of the current members
1.Jim/James
2 =Bob/Rob/Robert/Roberto and Mike/Michael/Miguel

If you add in the discharged/retired/Hospitalized
Thge order might change to
1, Mike etc
with Bob etc and Dave/David tied in second equal

This tells you that more Mikes than James have left the club, but is no predictor of future behavior

Respectfully submitted

The criteria is the full DoR listing from the past decade.

Top Three are:
Mike - 51
John - 47
David - 41

There are 1,013 names listed on the DoR. We have never had a member whose name started with Q or U. So if anyone knows an Quan or a Ulrich please try and recruit them!

The Question was somewhat misleading - the majority of those in the records are no longer in the club.
You have advised us of the most popular names in the Club's recent history. Is there a tendency amongst our Southern Gentlemen not to distinguish between history and current reality?

I remain sir, etc
