Post subject:  Army of Georgia v. AotS Winter Challenge Team is Full

The Army of Georgia is forming for battle. Twenty-two players have signed up for the defense of our supply lines against the cruel Winter Offensive of the AotS. We have raised players from each of our home Counties, the honored spirits of which, now being soiled by the ignominious deeds of the Army of the Shenandoah, and the other lackey armies in thrall to King Abraham, can only be purified by fire and the bayonet.

Army of Georgia units forming up to fight the AotS invasion are shown in this photo, taken at a drill field yesterday. First to answer the call was Col. Matthews 3/II, standing in foreground with his back facing the camera. His flag was joined immediately by that of General Weir III, seen mounted in black hat. Other Staff Officers seen volunteering in the first rank are Maj. Gen. Isgro 1/III, mounted facing the camera, Lt. Gen. Thornton II, standing before the troops in the Army’s front left and Col. Stymiest 2/III standing to next to him, followed by Maj. Gen. Vaccaro 3/II and Capt. Lovett 4/3/II, both standing in the distance. Gen. Desruisseaux 1/3/III is formed in the front rank closest to the camera, followed in the line by Brigadier Gen. Staccioli 5/1/II, Maj. Gen. Taylor 5/1/III, and Lt. Col. Boffi 1/2/III. Lt. Gen. Festus Harney 1/4/III is standing before his brigade in the second rank. Gen. P. Smith is seen dressing the 1/3/I line next to Brigadier Gen Dodge 3/2/II. Gen. Swan and Gen. Kunz are present but not pictured. More AoG Players are marching to the sound of the guns tonight.

I know some of you may speculate that the high turnout from III Corp has to do with the persistent rumor that the AotS was in some way connected with the mysterious disappearance of several officers from the III Corp camp last spring, but I am here to tell you that these boys are just plain ready for a fresh fight this winter, regardless of what low and shifty things were done by the AotS in the past.

Field Lt. Shore 2/2/III escorting none other than Lt. General Cole. The column is nearly formed.

Dec. 7
The eyes of the Army have arrived. The challenge team is assembled. These players need no identification, their faces are as well known to the people as they are feared by the AotS.

Visible in this photo are Gen. Burke 4/1/II the ranking AoG player on the field at 2684 OBD. Riding into camp with the General are Col. Olson 4/1/I and Lt. Gen. Hunt 2/1/III.

Well done, boys! We are ready to play.

I was called upon to make an appearance in the tournament so I flew into the first picture in Swan's post above. You can't miss me. Most call me Iron Man but you Yanks can just call me Mr. Man.

Ah... weekends... a little photoshop... and a bit of humor over coffee... good times!

In final reply, i can only quote the lyrics of Henry Clay Work and the State Song of Georgia:

Bring the good old bugle, boys, we'll sing another song
Sing it with a spirit that will start the world along
Sing it as we used to sing it, 50,000 strong[5]
While we were marching through Georgia.

Chorus
Hurrah! Hurrah! we bring the jubilee![6]
Hurrah! Hurrah! the flag that makes you free!
So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 2
How the darkeys shouted when they heard the joyful sound
How the turkeys gobbled which our commissary found
How the sweet potatoes even started from the ground
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 3
Yes and there were Union men who wept with joyful tears,
When they saw the honored flag they had not seen for years;
Hardly could they be restrained from breaking forth in cheers,
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 4
"Sherman's dashing Yankee boys will never reach the coast!"
So the saucy rebels said and 'twas a handsome boast
Had they not forgot, alas! to reckon with the Host
While we were marching through Georgia.

Verse 5
So we made a thoroughfare for freedom and her train,
Sixty miles in latitude, three hundred to the main;
Treason fled before us, for resistance was in vain
While we were marching through Georgia.

Gentlemen,

I was a bit concerned with the appearance of Iron Man in the Confederate ranks...

But when General Blake stepped up and admitted he was in drag again... pretending to be Iron Man... well, my fear dissolved into a riotous fit of laughter!

That's fine. I remember how you laughed before the tournament with the AotM.

How'd that turn out?

General Blake <salute>

Suh, my compliments!

I'm happy you asked how the "Fall Offensive" turned out. The Yanks are in for a world of hurt if their efforts against the Army of the Mississippi is any indication. We're considering renaming it the "Fredericksburg Offensive".

I have sent riders to the various commands of our Army for updates, and the latest information I can provide is:

Completed battles:
Confederate victories - 7
Yankee victories - 1
Draw or canc'd - 2

Ongoing battles:
Confederate victories - 3
Yankee victories - 0
Draw - 4

If you do the math, the Army of the Mississippi easily wins with 10 victories to 1 by the Yanks if things remain the same. The Yanks need to WIN every ongoing battle to achieve a draw, which is unlikely.

Gentlemen of the Army of Georgia, I am confident you are up to the challenge. Give it to 'em!

Highest regards,

General Blake,

Why Sir... you must have heard the phrase... "Laughter is the best medicine!" :)

It's either that or going around crying all the time... and where's the fun in that!

General Ringbloom <salute>

Proposed lyrics for the Army of the Mississippi battle song:

Under guidance from General Ringbloom
The Yankees in their masses
Advanced into the battle
To be handed their collective asses

General Garner and Ringbloom
Commanders of the action
Fought a gallant contest
But Drex found no satisfaction

Generals Whitehead and Olinsky
Onto the field they went
When it all was over
Olinsky bowed his head and wept

Generals Strickler and Mishurda met
The outcome we couldn't know
General Blake ended up the master
Mishurda took a blow

Next another battle
Generals Laabs and Groce
And when it all was over
The Yanks had lost the most

Generals Vandergriff and Thompson
What happened is not clear
But when the battle fizzled
There was no Yank success here

General Centers was recruited
To bolster the Yankee ranks
But after meeting Davis
A humiliating defeat for the Yanks

Medeiros and Benjamin
There never was a doubt
General Joe is a fighter
and the Yanks would do without

Gettysburg saw cavalry
between Generals Hebert and Kling
After Custer's folley
The fat lady began to sing

Generals Moore and Lynn engaged
Lynn never had a clue
Moore's from Gator Alley
Lynn now knows what Gators do

As in all battles
We've suffered a defeat
Foster overcame Purcell
But our total can't be beat

Chorus:

General Ringbloom how your feel
We filled your Yankees full of steel
Riders came in talking smack
We hope you like what you got back

Highest regards,

It turns out the lack of any Yankee fool to run the Union ET has left me without a sparring partner! I guess the Yanks caught a break. Who knew their lack of participation and patriotism would actually help them in the long run?

Ohhhh... gauntlet dropped.

Er, Blake, let's get the record straight. AoG only had 21 fielded brigades to our 22. You were just a filler. Sorry, but thanks for helping out.- Drex

General Ringbloom,

Can't wait to see the pairings! Maybe I'll get to whip on old Mr. Man himself!

Been working up a new page for the Winter Offensive. Will have a slightly different flair than our Fall Offensive page with the AotM. :)

A slightly different flair? Would that include a few Yankee victories?
