how many are retired in our membership?

I still work and contemplate the eventual day when I retire.

FYI........I am of retirement age.

I retired in 2004, for the second time. I still work part time as a contractor for the US Government (FDA). I started that job 2 weeks after retiring, as my wife said "GET A JOB"!!

I'm guessing maybe there are not as many members in this club that are retired that one would think. just a guess. Or those that are actually retired do not troll around these forums much?

just a thoght.

I would like to retire. If I hit a big jack pot and could pull off not having to work to support myself I wouldn't hesitate retiring.

Retirement far away, about 20 years to go. Looking forward to tour Scotland, play (hopefully) with grandchildren and my board and computer games. Or even better play board/computer games with my grandchildren in Scotland :D .

actually not the case in my experience...........most of the guys I play have been retired.

I too would stop working tomorrow..........if i had the stones.......lol

sometimes I think, its time........then I think again.........money is too good.

but I know its coming.

I retired after getting layed off in 2006. I looked around for a job for awhile but said screw it. Collected my 99 weeks of unemployment and never looked back. Life's to short.

I don't know where I heard it but someone said" there is only one true currency in life and that is Time". So don't waste it if you can. I haven't missed working one bit and only wish I had started sooner.

No, haven't retired.....would like to do so not too long from now, but too many bills to pay right now.......What I'm really scared about is if my wife retires.....then she will have all the more free time to buy stuff we don't need, more than she does now, lol.....making sure I'll never get to retire......

Gents! <salute>

I turned 60 last month, so I now officially have less than 2 years to go as long as they don't close the doors at the Post Office! January, 2015!

Ned makes a great point: I don't know how many of the guys at work have said the same thing, "I am not sure I want to retire, what will I do?" Then they all say the same thing later, "I wished I'd retired earlier!"

September 2009 and haven't regretted a minute of it!!!

I could have told you 40 years ago that I was going to retire at age 62 (assuming that I couldn't afford to do it beforehand) and I told the wife and the boss at work that I was retiring then even if we had to sell the house and move into a 30 year old delapidated single wide trailer with head high weeds and an outhouse. About 3 years before that date, the wife began to believe me although the boss didn't until I practically walked out the door. We didn't have to sell out and move (mainly because it is so hard to get outhouse approvals with today's health codes) and retirement has been just as my older brother described it - one of the best kept secrets out there.

Have I done everything as planned - not even close!!! But retirement is very close to the best decision that I have ever made. I have friends who are afraid of retirement and ask me if they should. I always give the same answer - work as long as possible because I need them paying FICA to ensure that my Social Security check comes next month. I always get the same look and response - which isn't printable here.

Just saw this post. I retired in 2010.
