I played this scenario against Yvan Durand and the Union got trashed. I had D's and E's everywhere in the battle. Yvan fought very well. Then today I read this article: http://www.civilwar.org/battlefields/nashville/nashville-history-articles/nashvillecooling.html

I swear there are times when I wonder if Mr. Tiller made the Union weak for play balance. BTW, scenario found in The HPS Franklin campaign.

PS-Perhaps I am just a bad general, so feedback from both sides is appreciated. Maybe I can learn something? Yvan, your comments would also be appreciated.

Which scenario did you play, I have played 042 and 043, both are hard, but I have won and lost as the Union. I think I have found a key to Union victory, not to be posted here.

As co-designer of the Overland Campaign, I would like to say that when it comes to assigning capabilities to units--A, B, C, etc--Mr Tiller gives free rein to his designers, and never involved himself in the force makeup of this campaign, or any other, as far as I know.
It should come as no surprise to a semi-serious historian that the outcome at Nashville was never in doubt. Thomas enjoyed overwhelming odds and also a talent for winning battles.
I own the CD but have never played it. I'd be glad to take the Yankee side in the same scenario that is discussed here, against the most vervent reb in the ranch.

Now I'm the first to complain about lousy Union Infantry quality but the Union LOSE at Nashville?!

I'm intrigued now. Surely you must have made a simple error that you couldn't recover from? Maybe you were unwell?

Surely the odds at Nashville are heavily stacked in favour of a Union victory? The record of results must have a large majority of Union victories?

I've never played it via PBEM as I've never thought a Reb would be keen to undertake it. But I've played it out versus the A.I a few times as I think it's a "nice" scenario and judge it useful as a Union learning tool.
I'm keen to play it out against a human opponent now.

General Wilkes
Since things are rather quiet along the Po, could we not adjourn to Tennessee and GET IT ON!????
I'd like to take the Union side and see how difficult it is to lose. I'm sure you could instruct me.

Yes ...er, sorry: I was waiting for a file from you in our Po maneuver?

Anyway, I would be very surprised if there are any Rebs want to have a go at Nashville so I'd better be willing to put on the butternut again and meet you for another maneuver in the bleak midwinter.

Send me a file of your choice. Historical 2 day battle is scn 42 I think...
