I would suggest Pitzers woods. There is ample parking and it's shaded . The battlefield is usually swamped with traffic and there isn't much parking down in the wheatfield area. Pitzers woods is on confederate avenue where the longstreet statue is.

For those that can't make it, Pennsylvania cable network has excellent programming almost around the clock. You can stream it but have to subscribe.

I'm not going to Gettysburg, but VRBO (Vacation Rental by Owner) is my new favourite site. I checked out Gettysburg for those dates (July 2-5) and found this one:

Here are a few more for those days:

Hope this helps a bit and have a great time there! I've very jealous .. . . .One of these days I'm planning to get back East to tour some of these battlefields :D

The Smithsonian has a nice view on why the CSA lost this battle and a nice interactive map of the three days.

Off to the airport.

I will be the guy with the gray tee shirt and beige Civil War Trust cap near the Reynolds statue.

If any of you were at Pitzer's Woods at 4 PM on July 2nd, sorry we didn't connect. I did meet my friend and favorite opponent Kelly Ross and we walked the battlefield, but I would have been happy to meet others from the club.

Derald Riggs, John Dragan and I did make the Pitzer's Woods stop, but no other ACWGC member showed up. Too bad, they could have seen about 11 Reb re-enactors in the back of an old beat-up Ford pickup. Oops, almost forgot--two girlfriends too.
