I have played more of this game than any other and I am now convinced it it broken.

Tiller allows cannon to fire on charging troops and the guns kill 4 guys (they are full strength) and they get mowed over with the troops with them breaking down than a cheap used car.

Defensive fire-check Fredricksburg or Picketts charge.

The other issue is the quality of Union troops-If they were as bad as protrayed by the game, the South would have won the war in 1862.

Note to the game company-REDO the game, it is showing it's age.

Suh, my compliments!

Are you suggesting scrapping the entire HPS Gettysburg disc, or the historical scenario? I beg to differ, but there is nothing easy for the CSA at Gettysburg aside from some of the "what if" scenarios.

If you believe the AotP is doomed from the beginning, perhaps you'd like to take command of the CSA and fight it out. I'll give as good as I get.

Highest regards,

I don't believe the historical scenario is broken -and tend to agree with Mr Hebert- if anything it is exceedingly tough to win as the South -as their artillery train (their over all arty ammo situation) is far poorer than the Union's.

In addition there are ample positions that the Union player can use to place infantry in front of artillery at elevation -allowing for a stacked defensive line -where the CSA player has zero chance of reaching them with their infantry- but still can get shot at by both the arty and the Union infantry - not only that - some of these positions have multiple levels which allow for 2 or 3 rows deep of arty in some cases.

I've won the historical 3 day scenario from both sides in pbem matches. I would have won the first day as the Union player a second time, but my opponent dropped out.

I have had much more difficulty playing the "what if" than the historical.

I do not what anything scrapped or deleted. I feel that the play balance of the what if scenarios can be improved.

I'll agree that some of the "what if" scenarios seem to favor one over the other, although I haven't played very many of them. As an example I'll use the Pipe Creek scenarios; I look at them and would almost rather refight Pickett's Charge  On the other hand, if memory serves me some of the Pike scenarios seem to favor the CSA depending on how they choose to fight it.

Perhaps this is the reason the majority of the "what if" scenarios I've played having been those created outside of what the disc included.
