Gentlemen <salute> I have the pleasure to announce what should prove to be an epic battle, bitterly contested by former comrades. Negotiations have been completed, commands assembled, barbs traded, with the only thing left being the battle itself. Are you ready? The stage has been set along the banks of Chickamauga Creek, the date being 19 September 1863. General Rosecrans and his Army of the Cumberland are determined to see that history doesn't repeat itself at the Battle of Chickamauga, while General Bragg and his Army of Tennessee along with General Longstreet's wing are just as determined to see the Army of the Cumberland completely destroyed this time. Are you ready? In the blue corner we have the challengers, a team made up completely of former CSA officers and now serving the banner of the newly formed "Dixieland Blues" Division, Army of the Potomac. While the Yanks might call them enlightened, we simply call them deserters. Let's give it up for Mark Davis, James Foster, and Sean Turner along with their commander Blake Strickler who has declared this to be a "Black Flag" affair. Blake has gone as far as stating there will be a dead gator's skin hanging from his colors once the battle is completed. In the grey corner we have a "Gator Alley" team accompanied by acting temporary brevet command sergeant major Nicodemus. Their reputation as fighters is known by many, and their list of victims includes some of the finest officers to represent the Yankee Army. The victors of Gator Pike, Gator Woods, Gator Klebbe, Gator Scrap, Elite Gator, and probably a couple of others, I present David Peek, Roger Hulinsky, and Neal Hebert along with their commander Tim Reneau. Nicodemus has stated that the only thing the Yank colors will be carrying once the battle is over is bullet holes. Let's get ready to rumble! Gentlemen, negotiations have concluded and it has been agreed that all optional rules are in play with the exception of MDF, Artillery Capture, Artillery Retirement by Prologue, and Night Movement Fatigue. There are no "house rules" in play other than what is contained in the ACWGC rules. Protect yourself at all times. In the event of a knockdown there will be no standing eight-count so that you might regain your senses, and Nicodemus will not be sent to a neutral corner. Return to your lines and come out fighting! |

Gen Hebert and Gator Alley members My Compliments...I know ya'll will do the Army of the Mississippi and the Confederacy proud. I haven't seen or heard from LT Strickler in awhile...I tend to believe he has gotten a yellow streak and headed further north to Canada. Instead of the dixielands blue division..it should be called the Judas division. |

General Miller <salute> Suh, my compliments! General David "Deano" Martin commands the "Dixieland Blues", and I do hold him in high regard despite his choice of armies. "Dixieland Blues" does have a nice ring to it, although I would have hoped that Deano would choose to associate himself with officers of better character. They deserted once, why wouldn't they again? Lieutenant Strickler has promised us a "Black Flag" encounter, and I expect he will make every effort in a losing cause. Blake is certainly familiar with Gator Alley, however he's never faced us in battle. A couple of his commanders (James Foster, Sean Turner) have, however, and are well aware of what lies in store. Are you ready? |

Gentlemen <salute> What? A kinder, gentler Blake? No reply other than a yawn and overly optomistic declaration of a lopsided Yankee victory? Have the Dixieland Blues devised some new weapon of mass destruction, or possibly identified a strategy that will allow them to repel the surging Confederate masses? Several have tried, but few have been successful. Details will be presented as matters unfold, but for now it is enough to state that operations have commenced and the bloodletting will soon begin. It's time! |

Life is busy presently - that's all. Those of us still young enough to get out and about in the outside world enjoy the occasional "lost weekend" I don't know what I will do when I get to be as old as you and Neal.  Probably sit in my chair brushing my teeth before I put them back in my mouth - or maybe take off my hair and throw it in the laundry for a quick spin. |
