Here is a new Civil War-themed movie coming out very soon. I have read it is all homefront, not battles, but probably worth watching. Hope it is more engrossing than Gods and Generals. http://www.copperheadthemovie.com/ |

I went to school in Charleston Illinois - aside from where the fairgrounds are located being the site of one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, there was (probably still is for all I know) a monument on the town square where there was a copperhead riot in town (it was regarding one of the drafts iirc). Sounds like an interesting movie with some potential, thanks for sharing mate. |

I thought it might have been Bernard Cornwall ACW fiction book of the same name, but not it is not. |

Before Cornwell the term 'Copperhead' referred to a northerner with southern sympathies. While I have the Cornwell books, I haven't gotten around to reading them (I think if memory serves me right there are currently 4 in that Starbuck series- with I think more planned - leastwise last time I checked Bernard's website he was talking like he was not through with that series - he is one of the few guys that participates pretty actively on his own site. Heck who am I fooling... I still have to get through the Sharpe's series -and think that might get back into gear at what point a Peninsular War title gets published... Anyway, I haven't watched the trailer but based upon the context of not having much to do about the battles in the war - it probably is not related to Cornwell's book (I don't even think 'Copperhead' was even the first one in that series .... I only remember that because it sort of surprised me a bit). |

The first book in the series was Copperhead, but by the 3rd book I was getting tired of super heroes, even if they were Rebs. If any reb officer was as good as Starbuck then I would want the Antietam upgrade |
