It claims to refute the myth that he was a bad general. Check it out.

I read the link info. Can't wait for the part where Hood saves Atlanta or captures Nashville.

Yeah, I am with Ferry there. I just can't imagine Hood being an easy guy to defend. He basically ordered his men to charge at Franklin for no other reason than to teach them a lesson. The lesson being not to fear breastworks. It's hard telling men not to fear the enemy when you yourself are missing half your limbs. Many of the veteran units were down to 10% strength after 4 years of fighting! Were they afraid of trenches? Let's just say they had a healthy respect for them. For Hood to assume they were cowards is just inexcusable.

In my book I went slightly off-topic to cover Franklin and Nashville. I'll have to figure a way to post the pertinent pages. (304-307)
There is an granite axiom that a commander is responsible for all that his unit does or fails to do. Based on that axiom, no amount of supposed new scholarship can change the results which are well known, and the responsibility, which is Hood's alone. He schemed mightily to get the command, so he gets the blame in full measure.
