I keep getting an error when trying to open BPEM turns - "Error reading from reply file" It effects both my Win 7 and Win 8 machines. It seems ok with campaign files.

Quite often, it is the PBEMAIL.XXX and .YYY files. Both players should delete those files, for a start. It is also possible for the file to be corrupted, whether sent in a ZIP file or not. Try deleting those files AND have the file resent.

If the game worked fine in both OS's, then it is most likely to be the the above.

Also. make sure that both of you have the latest update and are using the SAME update.

I had that problem a couple of times in Nap BG, even deleting the XXX & YYY files did not cure it.

I now know that you can save the file in the wrong directory and still play a couple of turns with the wrong map! Interestingly the system knows what units would be visible on the correct map and shows them so you can see into forest hexes but if the move in those false forest hexes is illegal then the game crashes.

It is a pity that when you start a new game BG does not default to the correct directory when you save the game.
