Gentlemen of the ACWGC,

Sirs, I know many of you in the club are veterans of service to our many respective countries. I wish that such a thing were unnecessary. It seems to be our lot as humans however that we will ever need someone willing to lay their life on the line to safeguard what is their home, family and community.

In the U.S. today it is Veterans Day. I was never in the service but I honor all who are and were. If I may then, allow me to offer my thanks to all men and women of all nations who have been in service for those they love. To me that is a special person!

Thank You!

<SALUTE!>

Salute!

In an old Napoleonic's Club I used to run, one of the webmasters was a Yorkshireman, Steve Kitchen, who is II Corps, ANV CO here and every Remembrance Day we would have a graphic up with poppies to remember.....

I continued the tradition he started, posted this image on the Colonial Campaigns Club (CCC) website today:

A joint celebration of sorts considering the CCC has quite a number of Canadian & British members as well as Americans, amongst others....

But a salute to all those who served. Have never served myself, but I do work that helps veterans sometimes, depends on what projects I am on.

A small note for United States Veteran's & family....

If you've lost your info, looking for stuff you might of forgotten about or you are a relative of a servicemen and are looking for service records or are looking to replace lost medals, the National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) is the place to try pulling OMPF's. It isn't the only place, especially for Vietnam War and forward Vet's, especially those who served in combat areas and might be in muster reports, ships logs or morning reports.

But to request your own info or even that of a parent or sibling follow the link below. Also the general public after a certain time period can request it, but only certain info can be released beyond next of kin....

http://www.archives.gov/veterans/

http://www.archives.gov/veterans/milita ... e-records/

The unfortunate thing is the 1973 fire relating to Army & Air Force records impacted:

Just one of them things to keep in mind to do on a rainy day.... :)
