Does anybody know if there is any way to adjust the shading when you turn on the visible hexes in "View"?

The shading and nighttime graphical effects in both 2D and 3D is done with pre-drawn graphics, which are superimposed over the normal terrain graphic. If you wanted to either lighten or darken the shading, you'd have to create alternate shading graphics and then load them into the proper graphical file(s).

I'd buy that!! I use the visible hexes a lot and sure would like to see "through" the shaded just a bit more.

Not sure I'm buying it, gents. It is only on this particular 'puter, and the problem is they're not really shaded at all to the extent it is hard to tell.

Joe, are you sure about visible hex shading being in the bmp files? While the images used for terrain do change shading in the files, it appears to be used for height only I think and tends to be yellows to browns. From what I have seen it looks more likely that visibility shading is done in software by a pixel shift (adding RBG values to all visible, subtracting from all invisible).
