AGEOD has released their updated version of American Civil War. You can find it here over at Matrix Games.

I just completed my first solitaire game with a Union Decisive Victory by Feb. 1863. I thoroughly enjoyed the game system and found the AI to be challenging. But I do have one question for anyone who is familiar with this game. I found that the Union was NEVER given the opportunity to form Corps in the entire game, while the Confederates had formed them by late '61. Was my game missing something, or was it just terrible luck that this event was never triggered? This does seem to be one of the interesting aspects of the game. Though the Union was never allowed to form Corps, they were allowed to issue the Emancipation Proclamation by the end of 1861. Strange indeed.

If you'll scroll down through the posts on MDT, you will come upon Ken Whitehead's excellent blog re: AGEOD II (Last post was on 4 January.) I am sure he can answer your corps question.

Have you installed the 1.02 upgrade? The release version had an error in it that caused the event for Corps to not occur. I think it was corrected in the 1.01 release but required you to restart any games for it to work. Normally you should see Divisions allowed in October 1861 and Corps in March 1862. And Lee in May/June 1862. I'm running 1.02 Beta release so haven't checked to verify that 1.02 official release is out.
