I just read the book The life and times of Nathan Bedford Forest and would like to try some of those battles. Two side notes, the author rode with Forrest and started the first medical university in the US, and Forrest had a high regard for Pillow.

If you have the Battle Ground series, I know there is mod on the BG Shiloh one I believe that lets you play the battle of Brice's Crossroads. I sure you have seen it in the book. Forrest basically routed a large federal force sent to destroy him and put a stop to his raiding of Shermans supply lines. Mods are on the ACWGC Cartography office site.
Also you can utilize Forrest's men in the HPS Franklin game in several scenarios including Franklin and Nashville, where he was historically detached by Hood. He is in HPS Shiloh I know. He is in HPS Chickamauga in several scenarios. If were to name some battles to try I would say Brices Crossroads, since it was one of his most clever traps, and then the Franklin hypothetical scenario where is he is given an infantry command in addition to his troopers to take the Federal far East flank as he wanted to do. Only way to have a shot if winning at Franklin.

Okay I'll bite, why did Forest have a high regard for Gen. Pillow?

I too have to ask. That's not the impression I got from Forrest's statements at the time of the surrender at Ft. Donelson.

If you read "Where the South Lost the Civil War" by Kendall Gott, it depicts Pillow as a high-energy general who worked hard to make Fort Donelson defensible, and who was responsible for the successful attack on Grant's forces. Of the Confederate generals involved in the whole Fort Donelson fiasco, he comes out looking the best. Pretty low bar though.

The author says pillow wanted to fight, but the majority of his staff, headed by Buckner, wanted surrender. I have read the opposite also. Sorry for the late reply. I will also look for Brice crossroads. Franklin is too depressing.

Don't have bg games. Too bad.

I think there was a Corinth mod for Brice's Crossroads as well.
