One of the greats in game design passed January 12th, 2015.

Any one familiar with miniature war gaming or Avalon Hill board games has probably heard of John Hill, he designed the Johnny Red series of miniature rules and was a designer in the Squad Leader series and other titles of Avalon Hill. I talked to him several times at Historicon and Fall In miniature conventions, always gracious and he had an extensive knowledge of the civil war.

Rest in Peace Mr. Hill

Robert, I met John Hill at his store on Harford Road in Baltimore in 1963 I believe. Nice man and what a thinker. Tactics II and D-Day were my favorites of the Avalon Hill series. His odds at 1-1 with dice were, a 1 was defense eliminated, a 5 or 6 was attack eliminated. 2-3-4 were attack back 1 or defense back 1 or 2.
