The main "unofficial" house rule that you will encounter is whether to allow "column infantry" melee or not. Sometimes people add some "night rules" to limit combat as well. |

Essentially, players can and will make use of the rules, optional, house or unofficial, as they BOTH decide prior to the game starting. The most important part is that agreement, prior to the start. |

Ernie, I want to clarify something in what you wrote. The house rules included in the club rules are automatically used unless all the parties agree not to use all or any of them. Unofficial house rules (restrictions on night fighting, attacking in column, movement after dark, etc) are never used unless all the parties agree to them. |
