Every now and then I see a game registered as a battle in the DOR but it has multiple participants listed. Can someone tell me if there is a difference in the points awarded for a MP game that is registered as a Multi-Player battle versus being registered as a Battle.

Each player on EACH SIDE of an MP game receive the same points, regardless of a 2v2, 2v3, 3v4, etc. IOW winners and losers receive the proper points AS IF it were 1v1.

Did you just say that the points are the same for each individual regardless of whether a multi-player game is registered as a MP game or a battle?

ALL players, on the SAME side, in a group game receive the same losers points and same winners points as would players in a battle between 2 players as long as the turns are the same.

IOW, winner of a 2 player battle (for example) of 25 turns receives 5.5 points; the loser receives 2.8 points.

All winners in an MP games (same criteria as above) receive 5.5 points and all losers receive 2.8 points.

The points are NOT divided between the players.

When registering a game, you have ONLY THESE choices:
BATTLE
MANEUVER
VMI TRAINING
WEST POINT TRAINING
MULTIPLAYER BATTLE
MULTIPLAYER MANEUVER

So the points for the individual players are the same regardless of whether the game is registered as a Battle or a Multi-Player Battle. I'm also not aware of any one within the club actually keeping up with Battles versus MP games for any purpose, to include awards/medals, so if someone registers a game with multi players as a Battle instead of a Multi-Player Battle, they really haven't done any harm?

The same would apply for a Maneuver versus a Multi-Player Maneuver? Makes one wonder the necessity of separate multi-player game registrations.

However, there is harm done when a maneuver is registered as a battle, or vice versa, regardless of whether it is standalone or multi-player. There would be a difference in points and a difference in army/club reports truthfulness, and possibly a difference in awards/medals.

So, are there any checks within the system to make sure that everyone is registering games correctly as battles versus maneuvers? Does the DoR program verify it or is that a function of a certain level of command on both sides of the club or some other method is in place?

The person and the opponent(s) registering a game have to determine what type of game it is and honestly enter the type.

The DOR has no control of what a game is registered as and the DOR has no way to determine the truthfulness of any entry. So, there are no built-in checks and no reasonable way to have built-in checks as the DOR is simply a database, so dishonesty in, dishonesty out.

The only harm for a game to be registered incorrectly is historical data and maybe a small increase in OBD points if registered as a battle if it was a maneuver.

For awards, the commander would have to verify the stats.

In the 12 years of the DOR being in use, there has not been a issue with the process.

Quite often, one or both opponents will email me to correct a game inadvertently registered with an error and then that game is corrected.
