Gents,
Please allow me to sing the praises of Overland. Sure, we can argue about whether the Rebs can win the Wilderness or the long Spottsylvania battles (I have lost both of them as the Rebs), but it has so many interesting and well researched scenarios.

In the fall of 2015, I played one of the 100 turn To Cold Harbor scenarios as the Rebs against a good opponent and won. That map and that set up are truly fascinating and I think if I play it 3 more times every one will be very different (and I hope I will play them again).

Lately, I have been playing a lot of the smaller scenarios as the Yanks (Bethel Church, Po River, Harris Farm, Mule Shoe) and am now playing Gordonsville (a what if similar to the flanking movements of the historical campaign).

All told, it has tons of set piece scenarios winnable by each side and a wide variety of meeting engagements and flank march scenarios that are really fun. I normally do not play too many of these types of meeting engagements (I like historical scenarios) but I think Overland captures the tension of the campaign and allows for very interesting set ups that capture the historical choices very well...

anyhow, I had pretty much stopped playing the Civil War games for a year + and revisiting Overland has renewed my interest.

I must say that I totally agree with you, Jim. JTS Overland is packed full of history and challenge. The designer, John Ferry, put an enormous amount of work into providing a deep and excellent addition to the American Civil War Campaign series.
