A clarifying post - this is for anyone who owns a John Tiller ACW game regardless if it was purchased through JTS or HPS. Updates will only be coming through the JTS going forward, so once this is released everyone will be migrating to the same version. There is no cost to migrate for HPS owners, just a simple validation of purchase and you'll get a serial number issued. I wonder if we should make this post a sticky so everyone will remember to contact JTS (with proof of ownership, like a receipt or pictures of your disks) for the serial codes on the new updates. |

Nick, If you send a picture of your disks and case they should give you a serial code. I did that with a couple of the Napoleonic Games a few months ago (I also purchased my disks from NWS). |

Gents! Okay, I have never been too bright of a light bulb so please bare with me! If I currently have HPS Campaign Gettysburg patch to version 2.0, what happens if I use the new John Tiller patch of 2.1? Actually if I understand correctly I wouldn't be able to use the JTS patch as I don't have a serial number for it. So according to Dale I would send a pic of my disk and case and I could get a serial number to use for the updates. Then the other question is: does the HPS 2.0 version work with the JTS 2.1 version? So if I want to game against someone with the JTS 2.1 version and I have the HPS 2.0 will it work? Warm regards! |

Hey Nick: Technically you can apply the JTS update, but when you go to start your program the next time after applying the update, then it would ask you for a serial number. You'd be able to apply it, it just would stop you from using your program until what point that you would be able to put in a valid serial number -which is what people would need to get from JTS support following whatever conditions that Rich outlines. I think that you probably outlined one of the more common routines that I have heard being used. I am not 100% on all of the conditions so your best bet would be to get the information directly from Rich Hamilton at support at johntillersoftware dot com (or using their support contact form on the Tiller site.). |

I wonder if you have to patch Chickamauga first to 1.04 because it never got a 2.X HPS patch. The current 1.04 HPS patch is bigger than the JTS patch, I compared them and in the HPS patch there a 323 files while just 36 in the JTS patch. If the JTS patch is just for bringing a 2.0 version to 2.01 we are in need to bring the HPS installation somehow to 2.0. |

Christian, I think you would have to be patched to the most current HPS patch and then apply the JTS patch. I have found that to be the case in the other games I have patched. I ordered Chickamauga through a seller on the internet and it should arrive in a couple of days so I have not done that one yet. |
