I was reading a book on the Battle of Antietam and it quoted soldiers describing the sound of battle being the greatest they ever heard. All books seem to have such a section dedicated to how "loud it was."

Ever really wonder what the actual loudest sound of the war was though if it could be measured?

Obvious things pop into mind like the Crater, Pickett's Charge or Shiloh's Hornet's Nest. Worth pondering a moment.
