Gentlemen,
is anyone able to tell me what path a routed unit usually takes?
Does it aim for the nearest leader, or supply source or something else?

Hi,

As near as I can tell, it doesn't run toward something so much as away from something; whatever caused it to rout. For example, if it is fired on from the rear, it will rout forward.

I'm not sure that is the whole story because I have seen strange things happen with routs, but I think it is a major factor.
