28. Don’t depend upon the taverns to determine what club rules are. There is a valid set of club rules at http://www.wargame.ch/wc/acw/ACWGCRules.html and you should particularly pay attention to Section 5 which is entitled Gaming. It’s not very lengthy. If you pay attention to what is posted in the taverns, you would think that things like no melee in column, no night fighting, etc are the club standards. They are not and the rules tell you what the club standards are. The rules are very easy, and you can make anything that you want standard for a game if both/all the participants agree to it. But don’t get mad if your opponent plays in accordance with the club rules if you didn’t clear with him/them beforehand some change that you wanted to play with (and you have to be familiar with what the actual club rules are in order to do that). |
