Gentleman,

General Joe Meyer has had to step down from his posts at ACWGC. He suffered an injury to his neck and shoulder which is giving him great pain and he is under doctor's care with tests ongoing. He does not know when or if, or in what capacity he may be able to return. He is also limiting telephone calls. As a result, the Union Army of the Tennessee, of which he was temporary commander, and the Army of the Shenandoah, which he commanded, have been left with vacancies at the top.

It has fallen on me, therefore, in my role as Union Army Chief of Armies ad interim, to make temporary appointments to fill those seats until a new UA CoA can be elected. That election will be held soon and permanent appointments will be made by the incoming CoA. In the meantime I am very pleased to announce, with the blessing of the Union Cabinet members, that General Frank DiNola will assume temporary command of the Army of the Tennessee and Brigadier General Lynn Newell will assume temporary command of the Army of the Shenandoah. Both have stepped forward and volunteered to help get us through the difficulties we will have trying to maintain and update the work Joe was doing until permanent replacements are found.

If more information becomes available regarding Joe's condition I will post here. He has been a major omnipresence in the ACWGC, maintaining every Union Army's OBD pages as UA Chief of Staff and will be sorely missed if he is not able to return. Nothing about his condition is certain, there is no prognosis. We can only hope that he will recover and return to enjoy what he has so carefully and faithfully nurtured. I am sure you all join me in wishing for his speedy recovery.

Gentlemen, Sirs! <salute>

Many thanks to General Frank DiNola and Brigadier General Lynn Newell for stepping up BIG TIME to assume the duties of the
Union Army Commanders for both AotT & AotS respectively!

<SALUTE>

It goes without saying to the rest of the Club members, especially the newer members, that service in command positions are needed and greatly appreciated by all of us!

Any General over the rank of Brigadier General has gained that rank by having served in a command position of Division Commander and above!

Many thanks to all for their volunteer service to the gaming Club!

Sending out positive thoughts to General Joseph Meyer for a quick recovery of his health!

Respectfully,

Your Obedient Servant,

General Nick Kunz
Chief of Staff,
Army of Northern Virginia

I second all that Nick wrote.

Salute to the Officers stepping up here.

I quote what Steve wrote upon his assumption of taking on the work of the interim UA CoA:

I can only imagine what life would be like if more people realized that participation in any endeavor can be hugely enhanced by assuming an active role in what keeps things going. For a labor of love, this should be fundamental.

This is what keeping our Club going is all about.

Bravo!

To help with General Meyer’s speedy recovery I have sent him 1 Gallon of my very special reserve Chateau de Goat 1863 and a dozen of Mrs Miggins pork pie’s, which contain her secret ingredient: pork. Well done to those who have stepped up.

General McOmish,

I am sure you mean well, but I have sampled that Chateau de Goat 1863 you keep in your desk drawer. I believe sending General Meyer a gallon of this brew might fall under the category of 'biological warfare', and set you up for war crimes accusations after the current unpleasantness has been settled! :O

Here's wishing General Meyer a speedy and complete recovery and return to ranks.
