Sirs,

I have a question about Isolation Rules: Does a Supply Wagon affect Isolation Rules or is it the edge of the map only?

Sir,

I believe supply wagons have nothing to do with isolation, they are just for ammo.

Pat,
I wonder why that isn't listed in the Isolation Rules - it should be because of the name "Supply" wagon.

I also have played games where the opponent was completely surrounded and because of "Supply" wagons they were not Isolated. If I remember correctly??

The reason I ask is because I have a supply wagon that is Isolated - The Rules are Poorly done for this and I have the updated ones.

Thank You for your Reply.

Okay, made me check.

I surrounded a unit stacked with a supply wagon and both units were reported as "isolated". So, I think I was right the first time.

I don't know if I picked this up from rules or just experience - sorry.

Pat,
Thank you for your effort. At my age memory can be an issue:)

I still think the Rules for Isolation are Poorly Written.

Gentlemen,

Would the following additions to the manual make things clearer to you ?

Unit Types
Supply Wagons are used to resupply Infantry units that become Low or Out of Supply. For each unit of strength, they can resupply 10 men. They have no ability to attack the enemy but they can be captured by the enemy. Supply Wagons can resupply any friendly small arms unit within range regardless of whether or not it is in their command. Supply Wagons effect Small Arms Ammunition only, they have nothing to do with Supply for Isolation purposes.

Supply
When the Isolation Effects Optional Rule is in effect, then at the beginning of each turn, a test is performed on each unit for the current player to determine if the unit should be flagged as being Isolated. The test attempts to trace a line of hexes from the unit to one of the following hexes:
Any hex on the edge of the map.
Any Blocked hex.
Any hex containing a Supply Source. Note: Supply Sources are map hexes created in the Scenario Editor. Supply Wagons are not Supply Sources and affect Small Arms Ammunition only, they have nothing to do with a unit being Isolated and can themselves become isolated.

Ken,

Yes Ken, that would be a great addition to the Manual.
