Greetings Gentlemen,

I am a new Cadet in training. I joined the CSA because it seemed the right and honorable thing to do, considering.

I started officially wargaming back in 1977 at the young age of 11, my mother is at fault by giving me four games from the Avalon Hill Game Company called; Afrika Korps, D-Day, Bulge and Waterloo. The following summer of 1978 for my birthday I dutifully received; The Russian Campaign, PanzerBlitz, Panzer Leader, and Luftwaffe. That Christmas (1978) I got Third Reich, Anzio, France 1940 and Chancellorsville. She made sure I was set for life as a wargamer now. :D

Those early wargames came right after my introduction to military history (age 10) and allowed me to explore history while playing a game! The best of both worlds. I eventually went onto purchase and collect over 500 of the things. I got into SL in 1979 or 1980 and then in 1985 went full into ASL. I am still active in board wargames and play a lot on VASSAL, really just getting into the Great Battles of the American Civil War (GBACW) by SPI and TSR as well as MMP's SCS series of games.

I first discovered PC wargames around 1995 or so when I saw game called Steel Panthers, played the heck out of that game and then SSI went belly up and I got into Talonsoft games East Front/West Front and The Operational Art of War. I have also been a beta tester for a few game companies such as Decision Games (Computer War in Europe 2), Shrapnel Games Steel Panthers WW2 and MBT, Matrix Games (War in the East 1 & 2, Warplan, Warplan Pacific, Valor & Victory, Flashpoint) and now as a tester for WDS.

What I really love about the WDS games is the similarity and amount of games they have like how the old board game company SPI had when they were in existence. I owned a lot of SPI titles and likewise I own just about all the WDS titles except for the Naval series.

Anyway looking to have some fun playing folks here in the ACW games.

Cadet Lazov, Sir! <salute>

It is my great pleasure to welcome Don to the American Civil War Gaming Club as a fellow Washingtonian!

One of the great joys of being involved with the training of new members is the opportunity to get to know a fellow wargamer!

Like so many of us Don has been involved in war gaming on many levels and we are certainly glad that he has joined us!

We look forward to your graduation matching you up with one of our newer USA members fighting for the Union Cause!

Respectfully,

Your Obedient Servant,

General Nick Kunz
Commanding,
2nd Corps, AoT

Thank you so much Nick for such a warm welcome and it still floors me how small the world really is.

For those that might not know, Nick and I were a mere 48 or 49 miles from each other from around well at least 1966 to 1987, lol (I joined the Army in '87 and then moved out of state in '98).

Mr Lazov,

I thank you kindly for your offer of sweet tea, most hospitable of you Sir. The refreshment of choice in the AoT however tends towards something a little stronger, gotta keep dem darn mozzies and gators at bay !

Brigadier General McEntegart,

Most understandable Sir, may you drink to your health and liking.

For this cadet nothing strong may whet my whistle, but cheers to you fine sir!
