CLUBS ARE TRUMPS TOURNAMENT ARMY OF THE JAMES AGAINST II "JACKSON'S" CORPS, ANV 10/29/04 - With one battle left to play in Group 2, the AOJ is holding onto a large lead. Overall, both Armies have won two groups. Therefore whichever army wins Group 2 will carry an advantage into the next round. THE RULES Welcome to the First Edition of the "Clubs Are Trumps" Tournament between the Army of the James and the II "Jackson's" Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia. Born from an idea of Colonel Pete Eagle (AoJ) and Colonel Marc Rosser (ANV) the Tournament will be a combination of team match and individual championship. The team championship will be determined first and the top players will then finish it up to determine the Top Dog. The 30 participants are divided in five Group (1 to 5) of six players (three from AoJ and three from II Corps, ANV). The three players of the AoJ encounter all the three players of II Corps, ANV in a three match round robin. Every Group play with a different engine. Each of the three match will be a mirror match (playing each scenario from both sides at the same time), but you only score team points for the half of the mirror in which you are the "first player" (if you look at the "victory" screen under "info" the "first player" is the one that the score of the game is associated with, and is the one that actually gets recorded points for victory locations...). Each player receive -1 points for a Major Defeat, 0 for a Minor Defeat, 1 for a Draw, 3 for a Minor Victory and 5 for a Major Victory. The match are based on scenarios with no more than 24 turns each. At the end of the round robin matches, we will add up the points for each team in each group. The team with the most points in each group gets one team point. Therefore, the round robin matches will account for 5 team points. After the round robin matches, the top eight scorers for each side will compete in head-to-head matches - #1 vs. #1, #2 vs. #2 and on to #8 vs. #8. The winner of each individual match will pick up one point for their team. The team with the most points after these matches wins the team competition. The winners of the eight matches will then finish it up in single elimination bracket to determine the overall individual winner. It should be noted that if opponents finish early and their next counterpart is also ready, they certainly can start their next round ahead of schedule. At the end of the Tournament we award all the player of the losing team with a ribbon of partecipation while the players of the winning team will receive a ribbon with a star. The eight individual finalist, besides of the ribbon, will receive a medal.
