The grizzled general enters the tavenr and sits down wearily at his usual table looking even more disheveled than normal. His uniform muddy, with some reddish brown stains that look like blood. As a young lieutenant comes up to his table looking worried the general smiles at him and says, “ Don’t worry boy, its not mine. Go ask the bartender to give you a bottle, no make that two of my personal stock. You know that stuff I got from the rebs on my last trip to Murfeesboro. And bring two glasses, I don’t fancy drinking alone tonite, been seeing too many ghosts of late.â€

Good post General Miller. I recall when the Mason-Dixon was full of such tall-tale telling. Allow me to buy a drink for you, General Kibby and Mrs. Lincoln there... oh, that's your horse? My apologies.

Great post Gen. Miller. I hope some of the other officers will take inspiration and do likewise.

Gen McBride, thanks for the drink. Gen Nelms, have a seat and join us for a round.

Settle down Hoss, Gen McBride didn't mean that comment about Mrs.Lincoln, after all he's been drinking a mite and he did apologize.

Congratualtions Gen Miller.

Fredericksburg.... with you at the lead there it will surely have a different outcome than old Burnside’s trip…….onward and upward for the true righteous cause and the stars and strips.

Ken,
Congratulations on your victory at Chickamauga! That is a toughy for the Union.
I have only forayed twice into the Georgia woods in my time in the ACWGC. My very first game was a Union Major Victory in one of the smaller scenarios. Which one escapes me. The second was versus the formidable Gene Nix (General, of course). It was the Full Battle and we beat each other about for the first day (well, actually, Gene just pounded on me). It was CSA Minor at end of day 1. At that point Gene left on an 8-week maritime mission. We agreed to suspend the game and pick it up when he returned. My Union boys were bloodied, but far from out of it. The Rebs were going to have a tough go on day 2, even if they ultimately won.
Well, Gene and I returned to the battle at the end of his hiatus. I noted that Gene had spent 8 weeks in the Pacific and that continuance of the battle would remind us both of another landmark in that large body of water: Iwo Jima. Rather than destroy half the next generation we decided that the honorable thing was to recognize a CSA Major Victory. Chivalry is not dead.
