Bill

Gladly [:D].

Within 24 hrs of being posted Gen Perrenod emailed me a warm welcome along with a detailed orientation to the unit as well as the Club in general. By the time I made it to the Corps forum I found he had posted a welcome to me with an invitation to others to toast my health.

Over the next few weeks Gen Perrenod was subjected to a barrage of questions about the Div, the Army, the Club, medals, matchs, and what have you. In every case his responses were prompt, informative, thorough, friendly, and always with an invitation to ask more questions if I had any.

In addition to this he maintained a Div web site that was always up to date. It included a News section where he made a point of announcing every promotion, battle result, or assignment for the division. Monthly calls for muster always included a check that all was well and that I was getting along. He sometimes made a point of sending a personal congratulation for a victory or promotion.

It all contributed to feeling part of something, that there was a division and that I was part of it. Whatever other COs may do, Matt was earning his OBDs with his attention to the Div and its officers.

I have since become the Div CO and have attempted to follow in Matt's footsteps, as well as adding a Mess Hall to the Div site where officers can introduce themselves to one another.

All of which begss the question, should we have discussions of how to best fill the various roles within the Club? No doubt most of us just assume that what we experienced from above is the norm, but that is clearly not the case.

Perhaps some sharing of experience as well as expectations, and even unfulfilled needs or wishes would be helpful.

Sirs /oo

My Divisional Commander has been very helpful in game play, advice, strategy and just plain fun.

I don’t know what are his “dutiesâ€
