The one saving grace of the HPS Campaign games was playing the campaign. Well I'm into my 6th battle in a campaign of Gettysburg and I'm not too happy with the campaign game right now.

During the Brandy Station fight my yanks did a pretty good job on the reb cavalry, managed to mangle a couple of his brigades and came out with a minor victory.

We then went to Winchester where Milroy ran for his life and got away giving the rebs the major victory.

During the 3rd fight on the Aldie map I once again managed to eliminate a couple reb cavalry regiments and capture JEB Stuart in the process once again coming out with a minor victory.

The next two battles saw me with two small regiments of cavalry in the one battle with my opponent with none that I saw. With only XI Corps I was in no hurry to get into a fight and the battle ended with only some minor skirmishing.

Then in the last battle my opponent had at least three brigades of cavalry which I ID'd, which he used nicely to delay my infantry, which once again had no cavalry support, until I could not reach the VP hexes before the end of the 15 turn battle and we end up with another draw.

Now it's June 30 and we finally make it to the Gettysburg map and he tells me not only is all his cavalry there, it looks to be at pretty good strength to him and JEB Stuart is back in command. [:(!]

Probably just a minor clitch in the Map org file(s). In a game the size of Gettysburg, it's easy to have a minor problem with the map org file(s).

Ken,

We're aware of the issue, and as Rich points out it's a problem with the .org files. It's slated to be fixed in the first patch.

When this is fixed in the patch, will it fix ongoing campaigns? I am sort of not so eager to see all the Reb cavalry that I have slaughtered on the Rappahannock return later in the campaign.

Any idea on when said patch will be making its appearance?

Hopefully by the end of the month, but that remains to be seen. Doug "lost" a couple of months due to work related issues and has just resurfaced...

And to answer Dierk's question, yes, I believe it will work with ongoing campaigns, as when they read the corrected .org file the losses will be handled properly.
