I tried running BGBR and I get error messages. I tried loading it "custom" and "typical" but I still get them. And yes, I installed the patch before I tried to run it each time.

The errors say - Cannot find COMMCTRL.DLL and DCIMAN.DLL.

Oh and, I have the hateful Windows XP which seems to give everything trouble.

Can any one help? I want to accept a challenge!

Thanks in advance.

Sir,
As I read your post I jumped and did a search for the DLLs which you listed. I run Windows XP Professional and find no such DLLs on my system. I also ran a search on a copy of the Bull Run CD. Likewise, no DLLs by this name were found! I am confused. When you try to run the game you get these messages? Or, when you are trying to install? I don't know what the CD has on it, but it sounds like it is installing obsolete DLLs. I would suggest searching the CD and attempt to determine in what folder these DLLs reside. You could run the install and then delete that folder from your hard drive. Since I don't know the purpose of these DLLs, it's really hard to say what they are. I can't imagine why the Bull Run executable would try to run files that don't exist!
I haven't answered your question, because I can not. As previously stated, I run XP Pro and have never had any problem with either Battleground or HPS systems.

I did a Google search for both these DLLs. You can download them if needed, but they both appear to be rather dated (Windows 95). Is your shortcut set up correctly? Have you tried launching the BR executable directly? These files are not part of the Bull Run CD. There is no reason the program would try to load them.

Make sure you're not using the new Talonsoft patch since it won't work with the 32-bit patch. Try patching again with these: http://www.hc-llc.net/games/patches.html and then the 32-bit patch (which is linked on that site). I just upgraded my HD and reinstalled BGBR with no problems. Using XP Pro.
