Post subject:  Thoughts on Election Process Needed
Gen. Doug Burke and I have been designated by the Cabinet to take the lead in reviewing our recent experience with electing Cabinet members, and to make recommendations of how the process can be built out and improved. Areas we've thought of so far, that we may need to address:
<ul><li>Terms of office </li><li>Election schedules </li><li>Addressing vacancies </li><li> Eligbility for election </li><li> Nominating process and standards </li><li> Rules for campaigning </li> <li> Voting procedures </li><li> Resolving multiple-candidate contests </li><li>Write-in candidacies? </li><li> Results certification</li></ul>
There may be more. Note that we have practices in some of these areas, and may simply want to look at whether they work, and others are areas we haven't addressed yet.
