Yes sir, interest has defintiely been lost. I've had one officer from each side in the Round 2 groups up and quit and I've still got four no-shows that I'm trying to track down (not to mention that my Reb counterpart left as well). Give me a little more time to try and fill the holes and I promise that I'll get this thing going again. In hindsight, we shouldn't have let the stragglers drag this one out. A lesson learned for anyone who wants to run a tournament is to set some very strict time guidelines as far as when battles should be completed, and show no mercy in enforcing them. Gentlemen, I nearly have all of the holes filled and will put out a revised bracket this week. In the mean time, let me tell you my thoughts on how to run the second round. Experience with this tournament has shown me that it is imposssible to get all participants to all play the same scenario for a number of reasons, including the fact that not every player owns all of the games! Therefore, I am leaning towards allowing each pair of combatants to decide amongst themselves which battle they will use to conduct their quarter-final match. I will only implement the following restrictions on their choice: that both combatants must be in agreement, that the battle is no longer than a particular number of turns (TBD), they fight the battle as a mirror match with only the "First Side" counting as their score (as was done in Round One) - point totals will decide if both players achieve the same victory category, and that all players adhere to a very strict time schedule (which I should have implemented in Round One). I welcome your thoughts now, and will put it to everyone for a vote once I have all of the players lined up later this week. If a majority disagree, I will attempt to come up with a single scenario for all of us to play. Remember that the team competition ends after round two. Each of these quaterfinal matches counts for one team point so there are eight points up for grabs (with the AOJ leading 3-2). The semifinal and final matches will crown the tournament champion but will not count towards the team competition. Again, I apologize to all of you for letting this tournament wallow in obscurity while the stragglers finished their battles and I want all of you to know that I am commmitted and fully intend to see this tournament through to its conclusion. Very Respectfully, Col Eagle 1/1/XXIV/AOJ |

Gentlemen, Here is a revised quarterfinal bracket for round two. I'm giving II Corps, ANV an extended grace period through this weekend to fill their hole with one of their officers who participated in round one - Col Chris Cross is coordinating. Otherwise Lt Col Gavin will advance to the semifinal round by forfeit. I am also sending this information to all round two participants via e-mail with more detailed instructions. Thanks for your patience gentlemen, round two is fianlly getting under way! V/R, Col Eagle 1. Oakford vs Martin 2. Eagle vs Kurkimilis 3. Peluso vs Bassotti 4. Gavin vs TBD 5. Merideth vs Moore 6. Corbin vs Jenson 7. Goodwin vs Moser 8. Lastowika vs Melbro |
