After doing this, does anyone know the problems encountered with HPS games, and TS-BG games?

As my new drive will be D:, my games will be looking for D:, when E: will now be my CD drive.

I found HKEY_Current_User/Software HPS stuff. Is it just a matter of changing all the drives from D: to E: once I get the HD working?

Thanks!

In XP you can easily change the drive letter with control panel, admin tools, computer management, disk management. I manipulate the drive letters to make sure it points to my virtual drive when installing new games. Complicated to explain.

Using Windows ME. I will installing new HD, get it up and running, then I will worry about games.

But I believe they will all not work due to the fact I installed them from D:, which will now be E:.

I don't remember if it is possible to change drive letters in ME to set the new HD to E. Someone here should be able to guide you when they see the question. The problem is that you can't change the installed from drive with HPS games like the BGG.

There are a couple of things for HPS, first. (I hope this is clear, it is 3:00 AM, so, maybe it isn't)

You can make it simple and force the drive letter for the NEW drive to be "E" and leave the the CDROM as "D".

Go to CONTROL PANEL, then SYSTEM, then device manager (this is AFTER you install your NEW slave). Select the NEW drive, click on properties, then settings and change the DRIVE letter to "E".

IF you do not want to do that, then you will have to play with the registry.

FOR BG SERIES, if you DO NOT change the drive letters, except BGC:

Search for BGG.INI (BGN.INI, etc). It should be in C:/windows. Open EACH of the BG ini files in a text editor (Notepad) and look for the SOUNDS and VIDEO and change the drive letter to "E" (or whatever the CDROM now is). There is another line that says:
cdrom=3 change that to cdrom=4. The code there is 3=d; 4=e; 5=f, etc.

For BGC, I think it is a registry entry, so search the registry for talonsoft. BEWARE of palying around with the registry. Please be SURE to make a backup of the registry before you start to mess with it.
