Most of my fellow employees know that I am involved in a war gaming club.....My Civil War calenders and mug gives my interest away.....But you should see the looks on the other peoples faces when I am asked what I am going to do tonight and my reply is that "I am going home to kill 10,000 people". It does come up occasionally, but most people in the churches are more surprised than anything. But then they think it's OK. Occasionally, however, there will be a person or couple who think I am glorifying war and don't understand this as something a "man of the cloth" should be involved in. Which at least opens the door to more "real" conversations than I usually get to have (today it's mediating who gets to use the refrigerator in the church kitchen and who doesn't. And who gets to decide. I must've missed that class at Duke... [8]). Maj Gen Sean Turner 3rd Cavalry Division, "Yankee Thrasher" I Corps Army of Alabama |

I dont advertise my war-gaming but I don't hide it either. Sometimes I have to explain it like when my wife announced loudly a party one night the she was a "war widow", after removing the wine glass from her hands I went on to explain that as I was just out of the Air Force where killing was "my profession" it was now "only a hobby". Still can't figure out why the party started thinning out after that. Guess they didn't like wargaming much.. [8][}:)][:D] Lt. Gen. Ed Blackburn VIth Corp/AoS "Where We Lead the Army Follows" |

Two things tipped my collegues off as to my wargamming hobby... 1 - I am constantly humming the tune Dixi 2 - Sent an email to my manager about my being absent from work. Thing was I was at home and using my acwgc email account that has my rank etc as a signature. The next day I ran into my boss and he said "Good Morning Major Corbin" :> Colonel John Corbin Commanding officer 2nd Division XVIII Corps AoJ |
