When executing the patch file it runs for s while & looks like sll is going in,

But at the end it comes up with this error message.

Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was foudno update done, since file contents do not match.

It sounds similar to something that happened to me a long time back. I'm not sure, but it might be that the alternate version might work - i.e try the UK update if you've been trying the US.

Did you try playing the game on the original install, before the patch?

Probably not. You can check this by simply reading the CDROM in Windows Explorer and if that reading works, then it should be good. If the reinstall of the game right off the CDROM does work, before applying the patch, then the patch could be corrupted.

If you have a CD burner, burn a copy of the CDROM and use that to install and test the game. If that works, apply a new download of the patch, from the SDC.

Hi Ernie. my son has a CD of same game.

I'm going there this evening, so I'll borrow his.
I'll let you know how I make out later/

I'm also going to check out my disk with method you described.
Thanks again.

I had that happen once. I believe the patch was looking for a file that had not copied off the cd during the original install. I manully copied the file from the cd and reapplied the patch and it was happy..

I am glad you mentioned that, I had forgoten.

Here is the info:

Notes and Possible Error Messages when updating:

If the patch fails to locate the proper readme file (Old file not found, however a file of the same name...), simply copy the readme file directly from the CD to the game folder on your hard drive and then execute the update.

Old file not found - This error message occurs when you do not have the update actually inside the game folder. Make sure that you do not have a shortcut created and the update is located in the proper folder.

Old file not found, however a file of the same name was found, no updating done since file contents do not match. - This will occur if any of the files the update is trying to load, have been changed from the files on the original game CD or prior updates, or you have the file in the wrong game folder, perhaps another Battleground game, and the contents are different.
