The following message has been posted in the taverns and mess halls of the 4 Confederate armies. I would ask that you consider its content and weigh your capacity to serve this Army and this Club, if not now then in the future.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Gentlemen,

With vacancies currently open for a Confederate CoA and a CoS, the degree of interest has been truly underwhelming. Likewise over at VMI, Commandant General Dustin Arnold has stayed on well past his posted and preferred date for relief.

I sincerely urge those of you with the aptitudes to consider serving this Army and this Club, whether in roles currently open or in the responsible positions which I know your Army Commanders are frequently seeking volunteers to fill. Be assured, I'm not being an alarmist here; this is becoming critical. The CSA, as you've come to know it, will suffer a severe blow if so many continue to sit on their hands.

Perhaps the rank requirements have something to do with it... there may be administratively minded officers of ranks lower than BGen that could serve quite well but are currently prevented by the rank limitations...

After all, by the end of the war of northern aggression there were plenty of companies commanded by lieutenants, regiments commanded by captains, brigades commanded by colonels, etc...

Just a thought that might open a few more positions. Not army commander, obviously, but by filling some of the smaller duties with lower ranking officers those currently serving in higher ranks could be freed to assume greater duties within the army as a whole...

God bless <><
