American Civil War Game Club (ACWGC)

I got a new horse and instead of reloading all my BG games I simply copied them over. They work, but have no battle sounds and the background music is mute as well. Anybody have any idea on how to fix this?

Sing while playing the game. That should cover the missing music, and the screams of the wounded men and horses. [:p]

I think the games need to have entries in the registry for the music and sound effects to be "found". What I typically do is install the game fresh, but instead of patching I then copy my backed up version over the new install. I works every time.

Go to C:\WINDOWS and locate the ini files for each game, e.g. bgn.ini. There are editable lines in there for sounds and videos - just point them to the correct CD drive. I don't know if you'll need to go to the registry too. sorry, it's been a few years since I had to muck around with all this so the details are a little hazy now. You might find that you'll need to re-install each game.

The INI files need to be copied over, also. They are made when you install the BG games, except for BGC, which is a 32 bit program and ONLY it uses the registry (as far as I know).

Check for the INI files in your WINNT or WINDOWS folder. If you do not have access to the old computer, I guess that I could email you my INI files (they are very small) and they are fairly generic and no changes need be made as long as your main cdrom drive is "D".

Actually, these files MIGHT be regenerated on the new system when you run a game, as they also have switches for the various settings.

Here is the part of the INI file that controls the CDROM and points to where the sound files are:

sounds=D:\BGG\
videos=D:\BGG\
cdrom=3

The "3" indicates the "D" drive.
