Gentlemen,

I've returned from my Mississippi Valley Review and I'm ready and raring to get back to the battles my opponents so graciously put on hold for me. Unfortunately, I've run across something that I need help with.

I'm in an HPS Gettysburg game, and I've somehow turned on the switch that moves units in column all together. Whenever I select and move a unit, adjacent units in the same organization automatically follow it. This isn't too bad when I'm in column moving down a road, but when I'm ready to deploy it's causing all kinds of chaos. And don't even THINK about what happens when Robert E. Lee rides past [:(] ! I don't want this option on, but I can't figure out how to turn it off.

Who'll be the first to straighten out a poor confused Rebel commander?

Gentlemen,

This is getting even weirder: We are playing in multi-phase mode (movement, DF, OF, melee). I've advanced my turn to the Offensive Fire phase, but whenever I attempt to fire a unit, some OTHER unit 'auto fires'.

I've checked all the options on the tool bar that would seem to have any effect on movement or 'auto fire', but I can't figure out how to turn these off!

Go to the view menu and uncheck AI orders? That might be it.

General Nelms,

Thanks, but that doesn't seem to be the cause. I looked at the 'View' menu, and 'A/I orders'is not checked.

Both things would occur if you would press down the ALT key while moving / firing. Now I find it hard to imagine that you would do that without noticing, but maybe there's something wrong (physically) with your keyboard?

'Dee Dubya' Suh! <Salute>

I would concur with Gen. Walter's opinion re: the physical condition of your Keyboard.

Recently, I had a similar problem to Yours. It turned out that 2 Years old Corporal Jack had spilt a minute drop of Coke onto my Spacebar and it had seeped inta the works.

The results were chaotic - amusing in hindsight, but mind blowingly frustrating at the time. A screwdriver,Tissues and my wife's hairdryer sorted out the problem in short-time!

It might be solved by deleting the PBEMail.XXX and YYY files. Or try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
