With Memorial Day coming up I'll be heading to the beach this weekend and enjoying the freedom of being able to do so. This freedom as we all know was bought with a price. From my still living 92 yr old grandfather who was wounded on the front lines in Belgium to many of your fathers and brothers on other battlefields. I try to think of them every now and then, especially of course, on holidays like this weekend and the 4th of July. One of my favorite Memorial Day speeches was given by President Reagan in 1985 so I thought I'd share it with the group.

Have a good weekend everyone.

...at a Veteran's Day ceremony in November 1985 at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, then-president Ronald Reagan offered these words of praise and inspiration to our country.

"It is, in an odd way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country in wars far away. The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our minds as old and wise. We see them as something like Founding Fathers, grave and grayed haired. But most of them were boy's when they died. They gave up two lives - the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for their country, for us. All we can do is remember."'
