Gentlemen,

I have always prefered playing historical scenarios over "What If" ones. They represent a wonderful way to learn about the American Civil War Battles and History. It is great to play a good battle with an opponent who shares the same passion but I think it could be even more interesting and fun if the battle could influence the outcome of the war.

Many years ago, I remember that I made a chronological list of all historical battles that I could play with my four Battleground titles. There was only 10 or 11 scenarios. Now, with ten BG and HPS titles, the ACW Campaign Game Design Center and ACW Cartography Office, I have recorded 76 historical scenarios covering a good part of the action on the three main theaters of the war (East, West and Trans-Mississippi). There is enough material for making a relatively good simulation of the war. Skirmishes, cavalry raids, small, medium and large battles; each player will have the possibility to choose the kind of battle suited for him.

The project is almost completed, so I invite all the members to take a look at the 1st Historical American Civil War Tournament web page.

The Tournament should begin on July 1st, Gettysburg's anniversary.

I hope that the participation will be good and that everyone will have a real good time.

Officers ! Form your brigades ! Fort Sumter is under attack... Let's resolve our different on the Fields of Honor and Glory.

harold, thanks for putting together an interesting tournament.i hope this is the proper place to post for the tournament. i was not sure if you meant to reply to your post, make a new post all on the tavern or if i was supposed to go directly to the PBEM opponent forum. i have not seen any posts yet about the tournamament from any players besides yours.please let me know if this needs to posted elsewhere.
i do not have the tech savvy to do what you are doing but i have had similiar ideas about a total ACW using the hps series and as a mp format(hoping the next hps release is for chattanooga/chickamauga/battle for atlanta)so that there would be full campaigns at each location that has a hps title.
here is my info for the tournament:
1)i would like to play the csa for either of CG 2nd winchester historical #3 or CC 01 historical iuka "lighning raid".

Lt. Brown, Sir

The tournament is schedule to start on the 1st of July. The scenarios will be opened gradually so it will start with 1861 battles.
Big Bethel, Boonville, Carthage, Blackburn's Ford and 1st Bull Run are first in line. I will post a message for each battle on the Opponent Finder section. Places are limited but as soon as a scenario is started, I will open the next one. You must finish your battle before applying for another, this way many players will have a chance to participate.

Thank you for your interest, I will see you very soon on the field to fight for our Liberty.

Salute,

Fld. Lt. Harold Lajoie 3/2/I/AoM, CSA.

The fighting will begin in one week, just a reminder to all officers interested to keep some place for a game on your card.

Historical scenarios from Campaign Shiloh will be included ! Yesss ! [:p]
The points for these battles will be determined when I receive my copy from HPS.

As I have no idea on how many players can be involved in the war, I have lifted the restriction of only one game per player simultaneously. I may reinstate this rule if necessary.

Hoping to see you on the field...

Lt. Brown,

you may miss the first scenarios of 1861 but there will be plenty others as they will be offered gradually. You can be sure that you will have the chance to participate. If you didn't have installed the custom scenarios from ACWCO and ACWCGDC, it could also be a good occasion to discover them.

Thank you for your interest, Sir
