Final Report from Lexington Hemp Bales. Federal details are busy gathering up nearly 3,700 Confederate dead and wounded. Unable to continue the Rebels have withdrawn from the field leaving the grim work to us. Union losses were only 124 dead and wounded. A major victory for the Union.

The Union has gained control of Roanoke Island. My brave boys in gray fought until their ammo gave out. To avoid further bloodshed, we hoisted the white flag in the face of our gallent opponents.

The Confederates have broken out of FD and scored a Major Victory. Union forces were virtually destroyed by turn 8 while the rest of the Union forces remained fixed. The road South has been opened.

Confederate forces are beginning to fall back at Kernstown. Initially I thought I was to attack, but it turned out I should have defended. I think we have recovered and will continue the fight. urrently a draw. Gen Jackson has been captured.

My congratulations to General Whitehead for his complete rout of Lt. George Denney at Manassas. From skimming General Whiteheads detailed accounts, he is to be commended for his skillful execution and his understanding of this field. Being General Whiteheads orginal opponent in this battle I figured the early morning routing of one of the forward Cocke units would have little impact on any final outcome.

Again, my congratulations to General Whitehead. A well fought battle sir!

General Doug Burke

I am sorry to announce that the Yankees have struck a Major Victory at Kernstown. After the capture of Gen Jackson the force did not want to fight.

A late rally of the army retook the center only to lose it again to an overwhelming Yankee force. With our troops reduced to only a few units and only 1 battery left, we have handed our sword to the Union commander.

A Major Union Victory has indeed been achieved at Kernstown. In a fit of rage, the rebels made good their revenge on the capture of the beloved Jackson and re-captured the centers achieved by Tyler, who himself was wounded in the capture of Jackson. Greater Union numbers marshalled by Kimbell were telling through the dusk however; as the Rebs were swept up in a prolonged advance.

A Confederate Major Victory has been declared at Big Bethel. I'd love to sit around the bar and claim how my superior tactics won the day, but all I did was sit in my entrenchments and let Ernie come to me.

So now it's off to Thoroughfare Gap where we'll both be in the open! [:0]

Armstrong's Raid, Middleburg.

CS Lt.Col. Harold Lajoie vs US LG Bob Breen.

Turn 10: After destroying some Union units trying to delay my cavalry force, I'm presently holding in the woods against two small offensives coming from the north and south. We hope to conserve a minor victory.

Turn 12: The game ended with a rebel minor victory. The Union lost 286 infantry and 152 cavalry against 141 rebel cavalry. US Col. M. Leggett was severely wounded in the battle. No objectives were taken by the Confederates.

The updated score for the 1st HACW is:

CSA 178
USA 102

Lt. Col. Harold Lajoie 3/2/I/AoM, CSA.
