Hi Guys,

I hope those of you that have tried Shiloh are enjoying it. That's my primary goal.

One player spotted a pesky Union supply wagon in scn 130 "Defend New Madrid." It should be Confederate. I'll change that with the first patch.

I'll let you guys sift through it for a few weeks, then after I've gotten some feedback, I'll submit a patch.

Comments are welcome, please let me know on this thread what you think.

Thanks,

Rich Walker

<font color="pink">Rich,
Enjoyable![:D] I am in a campaign with BG Scott Schlitte and the freaky thing about our Belmont battle is that it has turned out pretty historical, Scott has routed Pillow's division[xx(] and Cheatham is just coming into play[:p]. Those pesty union gunboats raised heck with my disrupted/routed units[:(!]! They seem a little too immune from Rebel artillery fire. I can't wait to see what Fort Donelson is like,[:p] that is if I have any Rebel army left (thanks Scott![:(])!

The gunboats will have a more difficult time against Forts Henry and Donelson, I think. If your manning the shore guns, try combining your arty fire for maximum effect.

So far his shorebatteries have caused the gunboats the loss of one gun and high fatigue. Any blue troops that show themselves take serious casualties from the reb shore batteries as well.
I was pleasantly surprised to see supplywagon captures now gain victory points and skirmishers from some units of around 50-men.

I'll ask a question if it is OK? Is there a difference in the Ironclads and the wooden gunboats in the engine? Or are they all pretty equal? Regards, Hank Smith

Until Rich comes to give you a proper answer, my impression is they are all treated the same. The only differences seem to be how many/what type of guns they carry. All seem to have the same movement rate as well. While their symbol shows them facing a certain direction, they can fire in any direction. And the same goes for some of the rebel shore guns.
In my battle one of my boats has lost two of 4 guns. Gen Kunz thought he'd sunk it but dusk saved it by putting it out of sight. Another player emailed me that they sunk both federal gunboats in a game against the AI.

Becareful getting to close too those columbiad shore batteries.

The difference is only in weaponary. Some are more powerful than others. And yes, they fire 360 because there guns were mounted 360 around the boat. And of course, they look different.

Flag Officer Andrew Foote soon learned to have respect for the Confederate shore batteries. In fact, he was wounded at Fort Donelson.

Excellent, as usual.

His concert at TILLERCON was really great.

Thanks Brett, your website is really special.

BTW, why no war movie reviews or lists? Just the horror stuff is up.

Rich,

You're welcome. I initially concentrated on my horror movies and just never got around to everything else. That sounds like a good project for a rainy day...

You better jump on it fast, because I'm working on another project that will soon keep you busy. [:)]
