Post subject:  Special Honors for Lt. General Don Adams, CSA

Gentlemen,

I am not in the habit of issuing medals on a regular basis. They are not to be taken lightly. However, there is one among us who has dedicated himself, in hours and hours of selfless devotion over the course of the past several months, to developing an online system to benefit the entire club. When the previous automated system went offline, he saw it as a personal challenge not just to replace it, but to replace it with something better.

This was a labor of love for him, but nevertheless the things the new Department of Records can do, and is already doing, is nothing short of fabulous. Each and every officer will be accessing the system to complete New and End Game forms. Every officer can access reports showing his own records to date in the club. Officers at every level of administration will use the system to maintain their own organizational structure. And I could go on and on.

The system replaces so much of what used to be done manually. Not only have I personally made organizational changes using the system, I have referred to it myself on several occasions to locate email addresses for officers, to verify OBD points, and to determine their current rank. This system has already saved hours of work for officers throughout the club, and promises to serve as the foundation for the club for years to come.

I have struggled with some way to adequately recognize his tremendous service to the club. The CSA Reference Library, built and maintained by General Jeff Gray, lists many medals for winning a certain number of battles or campaigns, or for holding various administrative positions. I finally settled on the highest award available to me, one so special it is only designated in the library as 'reserved for future use': the Albert S. Johnston Medal of Service.

For his dedicated efforts in developing the Department of Records, researching existing records to determine initial starting values for all officers on both sides of the club and entering all that data, for designing useful reports available to all levels of command, and, perhpas most of all, for his continued vigilence and responsiveness to all manner of requests for modifications from all across the club, I have awarded Lieutenant General Don Adams the Albert S. Johnston Medal of Service. In conjunction with this medal, I am awarding him a bonus of 20 OBD points.

I know this small token in no way offsets the many hours of unselfish devotion he has contributed to the cause of this club, but I hope he will wear it with pride knowing that he has more than earned it.

I would like for every officer in the club to join me in a toast to General Adams for his work on our behalf.

Here's to General Adams!

Your humble servant,
LGen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory

Sirs

OK, on this one I have to salute both Don, who more than deserves the honour, and Gen Mallory for finding an appropriate recognition.

Thanks Don, you've been great! Are we ever going to play a match?

Now, I can't wait to see what other Rebs are going to do to try and earn the ASJ - it should be very impressive [;)]

Don,

The Army of the Potomac has lined up our best 21 guns for a salute to such a great achievement![^]

The downside is that we're pointing them into Virginia!!![:0][:D]

Congrats, Don. Hopefully one day I can shake your hand and thank you in person.
