General Kaulbars Sir, Congratulation on your appointment as Commandant of the Union War College. I know we are in good hands. General Walters will be sorely missed and you have some very big shoes to fill. But knowing you as I have seen your abilities I have no doubt we are in good hands. Again Mike Congratulation I <salute> you sir. General Willie Passmore 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, 5th Corps, AoP Willie Passmore |

Sirs I thank you for your kind words. Naturally I am deeply honoured by this appointment, and a little intimidated by the trust that has been placed in me.

The War College is a vital resource and institution and I look to you all to help me keep it as the bulkwark of Union cause that it has been: - experienced Union Officers as contributers; - all Union Officers as students of our collective wisdom; - Rebs by getting thrashed as victims of that wisdom - we all have a role to play. A good start would be to see the article in the just published first issue from the ACWGC Signals Corps http://www.wargame.ch/board/acw/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8097 and participating in the questionnaire I will be posting shortly in the Quartermaster's Depot. Hmmm, maybe if I stuff a little paper in the heel ...
Maj Gen Mike Kaulbars Commandant Union Army War College

"Intel gives us the edge..."
|

[:D] You'll do fine, Mike. Many thanks for shouldering this burden. As you know, it has been a stepping-stone (!) to higher honors for a couple of people ... providing there *is* a higher honor than taking care of the higher education of the officers of the national army. [^] Gen. Walter, USA AoS / War College |

Thank you all for your kind wishes. I have been remiss in not declaring an open bar for the occassion, which I am now happy to do.
quote:
Originally posted by D.S. You do understand that some areas are off limits to a Rebel Officer of course. Indeed any Gentlemen is welcome to do the basic tour of the War College http://home.arcor.de/dierk_walter/WC/index.htm. Officers of the CSA will naturally leave any arms with the Guard and be accompanied by a Provost, but are otherwise welcome. So Gen Mallory, I look forward to your visit, and perhaps some day you will do me the honour of battle.
Maj Gen Mike Kaulbars Commandant Union Army War College

"Intel gives us the edge..."
|
