Gentlemen, I know this maybe a little off the track but I know most of you read this a lot. I am in New York staying in Manhattan for a week going back to England on saturday. Can any of you tell me are there any good stores that sell miniture soldiers? or anything to do with tha ACW. When I was a kid I used to get the american comics DC Marvel, and inside the back covers they used to have plastic figures for the AWI and also ACW. I always said I was going to try and get me some. Thanks in advance. Image

I'm a Toy Soldier collector and couldn't come up with anything with a very quick Google search but I'm sure there are shops in NYC. You might want to try the Forbes Magazine Gallery. There's a collection there of over 10,000 soldiers and 500 toy boats. Maybe they have a shop or can refer you to a store.

Hi,

Don't know anything about New York, but when I was a child I got the AWI set from the back of a comic book for my birthday. They were small and made of cheap hard plastic, but there were a lot of them and I got a lot of pleasure from it. Not at all like the Marx soldiers though. I doubt you would be able to find them today, but if anywhere, it would be New York.

I remember those comic adds, I always wanted some, but my parents could never afford much back then. A few years ago I was able to buy a couple off odd sets of Revalutionary solders, the same ones in the back of the comics.

Thank you Gents for your input. It looks like since they have invented the internet that I have been here before and every other major city in the world. I have not found what I have been looking for, I think I am a few years too late. As for New York it sure is high. Every one here is really well mannered. Not sure I like the pricing system you got here though.
Thanks again, All the best,

It's not surprising everyone's well mannered. I'm figuring that's a likeness of you we're seeing on your flag so in NYC you fit right in, just one of the crowd......wink.

Frank,

You might try Ebay, that is where I sold all my WWI and WWII Arffix(?) HO 1/48 scale troops. I also, have about 1000 civil war troops (hand painted). I use them to play with my son using the rules from Battles and Leaders (1981 Yoquinto). After he gets older I will probably sell them on ebay too.
