Gentlemen,

Trying to determine the title for a campaign inorder to register it. I have opened the BTO File in note pad and read the second line, but the title does not agee with the listing and there are no Numbers like C1U2 on the note pad file. For example I read Mizner VS Armstrong Sept 19 1962 and the listing give several Armstrong Raids M & O Rail road, all with 25 turns. What am I missing here?

General, open the .cpf file. I believe you will find the name there.

Confusingly, there are two names for each scenario. One is the name of the scenario file, and the other the name of the battle given *in* the file. So for instance, "Mizner vs. Armstrong, Sept. 19th, 1862" is the title of the battle given in the file "iukaab_c2u12". The only way to relate the two is using the scenario selection dialogue in the game and scroll through the files, but looking at the "turns" and "title" fields on the left side of the dialogue. Once you have the battle name with the correct turn number, you can note down the file name from the top righthand window, "files".

Dear Lt. Gen. Ed Blackburn,

That one has the correct title, but which numbers represent the Code?

Armstrong Raids the M&O Oct 7th 1962
1862 10 7 12 40 1 0 15 25

The last number is the number of turns. How do I get the C1U2 type information?

Gentlemen,

There is no way of knowing this before the battle is over. I know my choice U1 or U2 or U3 but I do not know the Confederate choice C1 or C2 or C3. To look at this gives me information I would not have otherwise known, such as the Confederate battle options and the described plans of attack or defense. IS it a general consensis not to register the start of Campaign games until they are over? Some one should make this procedure a FAQ. Gen Walter, Thank you Sir!

It is certainly no general consensus. I always register the games right away. Of course I cannot always identify the *exact* scenario title (as you say, whether it's U1C1 or U1C2 is often not clear), but for medals it's the number of turns and the map that counts, and that should be clear enough from that info.
