Gentlemen:

Raise your glasses to salute MG Schlueter, Commander New Jersey Volunteers, 1st Division, XIX Corps, AoS who is celebrating his 79th birthday today.

Now I don't know if we have any more senior members in the club, but among the real life Civil War Generals, I believe Winfield Scott was 75 in 1861 and General David Twiggs joined the CSA in 1862 at 71.

Lt Gen Bob Breen
Commanding XIX Corps, AoS

I was talking to a fuel tank driver the other day ( a full size tractor trailor). I figured the guy to be near retirement age so asked him what he intended to do at that time. " don`t figure to retire" he replied " I am only 83!!!"--- Its a new world!!

HAPPY 79th!!! and keep on driven`[:)]

I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

General Schlueter,

My heartiest congratulations, sir! (And my son think *I'm* old at 47!) I hope you enjoyed your big day.

Since no one has spoken up to claim a birth date earlier than yours, I'm now curious to find out who the YOUNGEST current club member is. I don't expect I have a shot at that title, either [:)]!

Your humble servant,
Gen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory
