Gentlemen,

Last year I'd been playing Tom Barber in Campaign Peninsula, and the game had been moving along quite quickly. He suddenly disappeared with no warning.

I just recieved an email from his wife that this CSA officer had passed away suddenly back in August (and she hadn't the heart to open his emails).

He's only been a member a short time, but I can assure you he was an officer and a gentlemen.

I do not know what CSA unit he was in, but I forwarded a copy of the letter I recieved to Gen. Mallory.

Rest in Peace.

Gentlemen,

Might I suggest that some place be found to post a list of members who have payed the ultimate price and fallen within our ranks never to rise again until the last day. Tom God's Rest be with you and God's peace that surpasses all understanding be with your family.

I too was engaged with Tom Barber last summer in a rousing Campaign Peninsula game only to recently find out about his tragic death. Although I only new him through the commraderie of cyberspace, he was a worthy and skilled opponent and more importantly a very fine person, with a clear love of Civil War history and gaming - indeed one of those people who make the game club such a pleasure to participate in. I will miss him and the club was truly honored to count one such as him, as a now now fallen member.

With deepest sympathy to Tom's family,
Ed
