Was looking at Matrix Games' page (for other reasons) and came across a page of screenshots for their updates of the BG games.

http://www.matrixgames.com/games/screens.asp?gid=319

The pictures come up a tad blurry, but if you look closely, unit strength is no longer in multiples of 25 or whatever, but are instead in single points (not single men like the HPS games, but instead just something like 4)

One of the shots also shows infantry with a movement value of 24 -- guess they are planning more then just a re-release. It will be interesting to see how they market this.

I think there is a topic here for the club leadership. Will these releases be part of our game list? If yes, why not approach Matrix to see if they would provide a link from their Talonsoft ACW game advertisement to the club.

My question would be are their new versions going to be ompatible with the curent 32 bit versions we use? I dont want to have to buy all the titles again.

My guess is that these are OLD screenshots from BGG v.1.0. I remember when I first bought it in 1996 unit strenght was counted in single digits, for instance "3" for a regiment of ca. 300 men, etc. Luckily they changed that quickly to the system we all are familiar with today.

I haven't heard a word yet about what Matrix have planned for the BG series. I really can't imagine that they are going to do too much to this series other than adding the 32-bit updates/patches......

I think Atle is correct. The screenshots also have the old floating button toolbar. I seem to remember that from the very early days. The operating system looks like win 95 too.

Definitely. I also recall the 100 men strength points. It's the prehistoric version of the games.

Ah, by the time I got into the games, they were all patched up to the 32 bit...

My apologies
